The Department of Health and Aged Care sets the nightly cost for this service but staff will happily inform you of the current cost on inquiry.
The Maureen Guthrie Cottage is an extension of Waratah Respite Services day program, and provides overnight respite for frail older people. The Cottage is attached to Waratah Centre and overnight residents can participate in day activities. While the accommodation is classified as low level care, we are able to accept people with a high care residential respite approval, if their care needs can be met by the service. A nurse is on duty each day and on-call overnight and on weekends. A care plan is developed in consultation with each client and their carer and monitored by the Registered Nurse.
To access this service clients must be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team. Once approved the client is entitled to up to 63 days of overnight respite per year.
