What type of personal information do we collect?

We collect the following information about our registered users who submit content to the 'Tips & Traps' web pages :

  • name
  • email address
  • post code/suburb
  • any additional information relating to you that you provide to us directly or indirectly through use of our Site.

For registered users who are financial advisers, we collect all the above Personal information plus the following business information:

  • ASIC financial adviser number
  • AFS licence number
  • AFS licence holder name
  • formal qualifications
  • membership of professional associations
  • parent dealer group or financial institution
  • business address
  • other marketing information, for example, focus areas & specialties, skills & experience, website address.

When do we collect personal information?

We collect personal information when you provide it to us during the registration process and at other times as you use the Site or contact us.

We also use cookies and other technologies to provide us with information about the way in which you navigate the Site.

If you choose not to provide personal information at the time you are seeking to register, you will not be able to complete the registration process to access and use the Site fully.

How do we use personal information?

We will use your personal information in order for us to:

  • verify your identity when you sign in or when you submit content to our Site;
  • facilitate and process transactions that take place on our Site, including:
    • displaying your first name and suburb (but not your email address or surname) with content you provide on the 'Tips & Traps' web pages ,
    • if you are a financial planner or adviser, including your personal and business information (but excluding your email address and phone number) on your Adviser Profile web page;
  • respond to support requests;
  • update you with operational news and information about our Site including website disruptions or security updates;
  • provide you with information that you request from us;
  • carry out technical analysis to determine how to improve the Site;
  • monitor activity on the Site, including to identify potential fraudulent activity and to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions that apply to the Site;
  • manage our legal and operational affairs; and/or
  • provide general administrative and performance functions and activities.
When may we disclose your personal information?

We may disclose personal information to third parties in accordance with this policy and also where it is reasonably necessary in order to enable us to make the Site available to you, when we are required to do so by law or when you give us permission to do so.

How do we store your personal information?

Our Site is maintained in Australia and your Personal Information will be stored in Sydney on our system which is managed by DreamIT Solutions Pty. Ltd. ACN 615 368 440. Off site database backups, which include Personal Information, are also stored on Google Cloud Platform servers in Asia.

How can you access your personal information?

If you have a financial adviser account, you can access some of the information that we collect about you by logging in to your account on our site. All registered users also have the right to make a request to access other information we hold about you and to request corrections of any errors in that information. To make an access or correction request, please email us by clicking on the 'Contact' link in the Menu.

Will this policy be updated?

We may need to change this policy from time to time in order to make sure it stays up to date with the latest legal requirements and any changes to our management of privacy. When we do amend the policy, the changes will be effective immediately.

We will take reasonable steps to let you know about any changes made to this policy. We also suggest that you revisit this policy from time to time to see whether changes have been made.

If you continue to use our Site after the changes are made, then you will be agreeing to the changes.
